PARKLAND, FL- City Commissioner and business owner Rich Walker announced this morning his candidacy for Mayor of Parkland. Walker was elected as Commissioner of District 2 for a four-year term on November 6th, 2018.

Upon moving to Parkland, Florida, Rich immediately served in various capacities on the Parkland Soccer Board and Parkland Little League Board. In addition, he has been a dedicated coach for a myriad of sports and age groups. Rich has been an active volunteer with school sponsored activities at all three elementary schools, Westglades Middle School and Marjory Stoneman Douglas.

“Running for this position is not just about me and my family—it’s about all of you, and making sure the City of Parkland continues to be a place that we all love. I want my proven entrepreneurial record to be an asset to our community,” said Walker, a husband, and father of five children.

Walker owns Bergen Sign Company, which operates in both Pompano Beach, Florida and Wayne, New Jersey. He is also an owner of American Beverage Technologies, a servicer for water filtration systems.

“My extensive experience in the business world gives me a big picture understanding of how to make decisions that will not only benefit families like mine, but for all Parkland residents,” said Walker.

Walker details three priorities which he intends to address simultaneously. He seeks to prioritize safety and security, upholding level of service and infrastructure, and building on the Continuous Partnership with the dedicated mental health organizations in our community. As Parkland continues to grow, Walker wants to prioritize keeping the city a wonderful place to live for all residents.

“I want to ensure that Parkland continues to be embraced as a wonderful place where families from all around the country want to live and to be proud to call their home,” he said.
